I feel like gingham is the marmite of the prints world. You either love it or think it looks like a tablecloth. I don’t know about you but I have a real soft spot for the print. Much to my mother’s dismay I’m not really one for colour. I’d say a good 80% of my wardrobe is either black, white, grey or navy and I think that’s why I love gingham so much. It evokes everything summery whilst remaining in my preferred colour palette. Gingham’s been a summer classic for years but has really exploded in popularity for the 2017 spring/summer season and I thought I’d show you some of my favourite high street gingham pieces (with links, obvs).
Combining gingham and frill detailing, this Topshop Gingham Frill Wrap Mini Skirt kills two trends in on piece. I’d pair it with patent ankle boots and a cropped jumper for transitional dressing when we start edging towards Autumn.
I’m always down for a good pinafore and Topshop’s are amongst the best. This Gingham Pinafore Dress is the perfect summer counterpart to their cord pieces and I’m loving the idea of it over a vintage band tee and battered vans.
This Asos Gingham Cropped One Shoulder Bralet is a major win for me and would look perfect as shown with high-waisted mom jeans or over a white tee with a black denim mini and trainers.
Of course Zara is going to kill this trend. Gingham Trousers are probably my favourite iteration of the trend and pom-pom cuffs on this pair are simply adorable.
AND ONE MAJOR LABEL LUST
I know I said colour isn’t really my thing but pink will always be the exception. These Miu Miu Leather-Trimmed Platform Espadrilles, found on Net-a-Porter, are just dreamy and the perfect juxtaposition between feminine and edgy.
